What is the "American Dream," for the millions of people who have left the land they once called home to America? For some, it has been an escape from persecution. For many Malayalees, it was a chance to realize a dream and make it a reality. The new serial, An American Dream, explores the lives of a few Malayalee families living in America and their struggles in trying to fulfill the "American Dream." Yet, though the opportunities exist, the road is harder than they imagined, and the costs often far too great.

When we talk about living the "American Dream," we must talk about Devraj or Devan (Ravi Vallathol). Devan, as he is known by family and friends in the community, is an immensely successful businessman, and prominent citizen amongst the Malayalees in the Washington, D.C. Area. He struggled and worked relentlessly to become the CEO of a multinational software company, and after years of toil and modest living, he made his mark in this foreign land with his wife Sethulakshmi, and his two daughters, Suja and Lekha. But what were the costs for this high position, expensive home, and lavish lifestyle? Watch and find out…

Sethu (Geetha) was always the supportive pillar in Devan's life. Though she often longed for the village in Kerala in which she grew up, she was happy staying home and raising their children in a land that seemed foreign to them. Without her encouragement and understanding, Devan could not have achieved what he did. Yet time enables us to forget those things, and thus Devan had forgotten in his rise to fame, much to Sethu's dismay. Meanwhile, Sethu was also troubled over her mother Parvathy Amma (Padmini) living in a old people's home, and her husband's indifference towards the situation. After Sethu's father died, her mother was forced to sell the "Tharavaadu," she cherished so much, and move to Mumbai, for the welfare of her son, Sethu's brother. After leaving her son to come to be with her daughter in America, Parvathy Amma made the decision to move to a old people's home, why?. Did Sethu finally realize that her husband's dream is no longer her own? Will Parvathi Amma be destined to live out the rest of her years alone, in a retirement home? Watch and find out…

The American dream did come true for Sara Kurien (Mallika Sukumaran), but only after the death of her husband. Sara was one of the most successful Malayalees in the United States, owning various business institutions in the country, including the retirement home Sethu's mother resides at. Sara and Sethu are friends, and Sara often advised Sethu to find something fulfilling to do for herself now that her children were grown and husband was too busy for her. Amidst all this success, Sara often lamented that her late husband was not able to finally enjoy the fruits of their many years of labour. Sara's other reason for sadness was her son, Aby. Aby, her only son, suffered from years of being spoiled and lacking discipline. She wanted him to continue the businesses after her time, but would he be capable? Did she want to risk losing everything? Will Aby finally shape up? Watch and find out…

Unlike Aby, Anand Shankar (Sharat), really has what it takes to become successful in America. After his father died and his family in Kerala was in financial turmoil, Anand decided to leave Kerala for a job in America, and with the hope that he could make things better for his family back home. Devan, having been friends with Anand's father in school, decided the least he could do was give the bright Anand a chance working for his company, and even give him a place to stay for some time. Arriving in a distant land, with a different culture, Anand was apprehensive about leaving his home and having to adjust to a culture very foreign to him. In addition, Anand had to cope with Devan's very unhappy wife, and his "American bred" daughters whom he didn't know what to expect from. Will Anand be able to handle this "foreign" experience? Would he reaffirm his negative beliefs about children born in the U.S., or would he be pleasantly surprised? Watch and find out….

An American Dream is the story of these individuals and few others whose lives revolve around them. In the picturesque backdrops of the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., New York, and New Jersey, the new serial American Dreams bring you a unique, up close, and personal look at the lives of different Malayalees in America; their tragedies, their successes, their loves and much much more…WATCH AND FIND OUT..
